Becher envisions turning the SAP Center into a true 'shark tank' experience. But here's where it gets controversial: he wants to bring the ocean into the arena, creating an immersive environment that celebrates the San Jose Sharks.
"Sharks swim in the ocean, and we're going to bring that oceanic vibe to every corner of the building. From the lighting to the atmosphere, it's all about embracing the ocean's layers and the diverse world of sharks," Becher explained.
And this is the part most people miss: there's no water involved! It's all about the visual and sensory experience, creating a unique and memorable atmosphere for fans.
Improvements for a Better Experience
But it's not just about the aesthetics. Becher recognizes the need for practical improvements too. With over 13,000 fans packing the arena, the concourse can become a crowded mess.
"We're looking at modern building designs and considering multiple concourses to ease the flow of people. It's about creating a more enjoyable experience for everyone," he said.
Additionally, Becher plans to open up new entrances, reducing the congestion at the main south entrance.
"By punching new holes in the building, we can create alternative routes and spread out the foot traffic," he added.

The president also wants to make better use of the arena's bottom and top levels. He envisions creating 'outdoor-indoor' spaces that take advantage of San Jose's warm climate, letting in natural light and creating a unique fan experience.
"It's about enhancing the overall fan experience and creating a versatile space that caters to a variety of events," Becher explained.
