Daniel Jones, the Colts’ quarterback, is sidelined again after suffering a right Achilles tendon injury against Jacksonville, adding to a list of issues he’s been dealing with this season. The injury occurred in the moment of contact on Sunday when Jones dropped to the ground, immediately grabbing the back of his right leg. He thrashed his helmet in frustration, then, with help from team trainers, made his way off the field for evaluation and ultimately to the locker room for further testing. Riley Leonard stepped in as the replacement, and Indianapolis quickly announced Jones would not return to the game.
This season has been challenging for Jones. He’s been playing with a broken bone in his left leg, though he has not been able to pinpoint exactly when the injury began or when he first noticed the issue. In recent weeks, Jones has insisted that he felt healthy enough to play, but his performance has suffered as defenses have mounted more pressure. The added pressure has limited his mobility at times and reduced his accuracy on passes compared to the earlier eight games of the season.
