Co-host Sunny Hostin quickly reminded everyone that the Department of Justice (DoJ) has a longstanding policy against indicting a sitting president, which led Behar to wonder why Trump hasn't followed Nixon's example and resigned.
"Because he’s not afraid of any repercussions," Sara Haines bluntly replied. "He hasn’t been held accountable for his actions."
In response to the ongoing debate about accountability, Farah Griffin offered a sobering perspective, labeling the Democrats’ failure to act decisively as a "missed opportunity." She emphasized that both the investigations into the events surrounding January 6 and the classified documents case were hindered by the DoJ's policies. "But they had a full four years to investigate, prosecute, and address these crimes before the election came around," she asserted. "It’s a disservice to the public that these issues were not resolved prior to the election."
Continuing her argument, she stated, "Once he won the election, it was essentially game over. Many of us were voicing these concerns at that time. While I understand the need for thorough investigations—which can often be complex and time-consuming—it ultimately placed the decision-making power in the public’s hands, making them the judge, jury, and executioner in this scenario."
