George
Joslin has been a pastor and worked with deaf people from all over America.
Many of the books written on American Sign Language do not go into the many
many Religious Concepts and Signs that are used by deaf people at church. Here George
Joslin takes time to explain each Concept and word and the sign that is used. He explains
that different signs are often used for the same word or concept. At times
both signs may be correct but at other times and places another sign may be
more helpful. This video will help you become a more effective communicator
with deaf people and better interpreter in your church.
George Joslin began his study
of the language of signs at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in 1957.
For 17 years he served as a missionary with the deaf for the Home Mission
Board of the Southern Baptist Convention in California, Texas and Virginia. He
directed the Center for the Deaf at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in
Richmond, Virginia. He has served as president of the Virginia Registry of
Interpreters for the Deaf and for five years was chairman of the interpreter
evaluation team in Virginia for the National Registry of Interpreters for the
Deaf.
